I passed my doctoral oral exam!
January 8th, 2007
Today I took and passed my doctoral oral exam. This involved standing up in front of a committee of 4 UNC Pharmacology faculty members and answering questions on my coursework and doctoral written exam for over 2 hours. It was exhausting, but extremely satisfying to pass after spending the past several weeks studying. Thanks to all my wonderful spouse, friends, and family for all their love and support!
David surprised me with a post DOE present of several pieces of “Suzanne Minton” china from the Minton china company. It’s pretty cool to have a piece of fine bone china with your name on the back!

Hola Susanita
Congratulations on your exam. I am not usre what the Minton China company is. I guess Minton is a word in Chineese and this is a coincidence.
We are very happy for you
Jorge and Dr K.
Jorge,
Minton China is actually fairly renowned in certain circles. A little background:
“Thomas Minton formally founded his business in 1793, from which time the company concerned itself with the production of high quality earthenware and fine bone china. At the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851, Minton won recognition as the finest china manufacturer in Europe. The specialist techniques of raised gold and hand painting have been preserved and extended, so that today Minton retains its reputation as one of the finest china manufacturers in the world.”
I Believe Minton China merged with Royal Doulton in the 1950s.
I was just googling my name and came across your article. Is your name Suzanne Minton too? Is your husband’s name David (my fiancee’s name is David). What a weird coincidence.
It took a while, but I have nearly finished assembling a service for eight through various eBay sellers. I believe Suzanne is only short two dinner plates, and has a few extra of some of the smaller plates.
