Suzanne’s favorite Thanksgiving dessert

While pumpkin pie is the traditional Thanksgiving dessert, I also like to bake fudge pecan pie each year. This is my mom’s recipe and it always gets rave reviews:

Eileen’s Fudge Pecan Pie

1 frozen deep dish pie crust
1 stick butter
3 Tbs cocoa powder
3/4 cup hot water
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/8 Tsp salt
1 Tsp vanilla extract
1 can evaporated milk (5.3 oz)
1 cup pecan halves
Whipped cream

Take pie crust out of freezer. Preheat oven and an aluminum foil covered cookie sheet to 350 degrees F. In medium saucepan, melt butter. Add cocoa, stir until dissolved, add hot water and stir with whisk. Blend in sugar, flour, salt, vanilla, and evaporated milk. Stir in pecans and pour into pie crust. Bake on preheated cookie sheet for 50 minutes or until custard sets. Serve with whipped cream.
